About Us

Purdys Chocolatier is Canada’s chocolatier, with a story that begins in downtown Vancouver in 1907, when our founder, Richard Carmon Purdy, started selling his homemade chocolates. With humble beginnings on Robson St, it quickly became a beloved tradition, built on a simple idea: if you make chocolate with care, people will taste the difference.

Over a century later, that spirit still guides us. Since 1963, Purdys Chocolatier has been proudly owned by the Flavelle family, now with the third generation helping lead the business. Their commitment to quality, community, and long-term thinking has shaped who we are today, a family-owned Canadian chocolatier focused on creating connection and joy through every chocolate.

At Purdys Chocolatier, everyone, from our chocolatiers to our in-shop chocolate connoisseurs, shares a deep passion for chocolate. We thoughtfully source premium ingredients from around the world, prioritizing clean, natural ingredients and choosing local options whenever possible. We never compromise on quality. It’s a difference you can taste.

Our chocolates are made with sustainable cocoa. We pay a premium to support farmer partners and co-ops through programs that help improve their incomes and the livelihoods of their families. It’s a simple choice, and the right one.

Truly Canadian and truly delicious, Purdys Chocolatier remains a family-owned company devoted to crafting exceptional chocolate and the moments of connection it creates.
